Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre has a long standing history of supporting students from a variety of post-secondary institutions and programs from across Nova Scotia by providing opportunities for practical experience.
Each student is assigned a staff mentor who provides direct, day-to-day support throughout the placement. To continuously evaluate and improve KRRC’s student mentorship program, feedback from both students and mentors is encouraged at the conclusion of each placement period.
All requests for student placements must be forwarded to KRRC’s Learning & Development Coordinator who ensures placement requirements have been met, and arranges the placement in collaboration with Program Managers, Directors and/or area Supervisors. Michelle Turner can be reached via email email@example.com.
During preliminary discussions with faculty regarding a student placement, a Student Placement Requirements Form must be completed and returned to the Learning & Development Coordinator. This confirms the student meets the security check and immunization requirements at KRRC. Each student’s faculty is also sent a welcome letter to be forwarded to the student providing information on placement area and mentor; preliminary schedule; parking; dress and scent policy; meals and breaks; and student identification.
Placements are non-paid, range from two-week terms and up, and take place throughout the calendar year.
