WATERVILLE, NS — The Board of Directors of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre announces the appointment of Judy Heffern, RN, BN, MPA, CHE as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 23rd, 2012.
“We are thrilled to welcome Judy Heffern as the new CEO,” said KRRC Board Chair Cathy Cantwell. “Ms Heffern’s experience and enthusiasm will be an asset to Kings and the great work which goes on at this facility. We are looking forward to working with her and extend a warm welcome.”
Originally from Newfoundland, Ms Heffern previously held the position as Director of Long Term Care and Services for Seniors for the Regional Municipality of Durham in Whitby, Ontario.
A registered nurse (RN), she also holds a Bachelor of Nursing Degree (BN) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA). She is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) with the Canadian College of Health Leaders, and an experienced surveyor with Accreditation Canada.
In addition to her credentials, Ms Heffern has over 30 years experience in the healthcare field, 25 of which has been in progressive management and in administration positions in non-profit, private and government sectors. She has worked in acute care, psychiatry and long-term care.
Ms Heffern takes on the role of CEO at a significant time in the Centre’s history, as 2012 marks the organization’s 50th anniversary. She replaces Betty Mattson, who retired last month after a nine year term.
Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre provides a supportive living, learning and working environment for over 200 youth and adults with physical, cognitive and mental health challenges.
