KRRC Youth Program is a community-based child and youth caring program that provides a safe, structured homelike environment for children in the care of the Minister of Community Services who are experiencing difficulty thriving in a less structured environment due to social, emotional, psychiatric or behavioural concerns.

Our Child and Youth Caring Programs follow the CARES model, promoting a child centered alliance that fosters resilience through education and solution focused programming.

The clientele that we serve are children aged 9 years and over on admission from across the Province of Nova Scotia as designated by the Child Welfare Specialist – Admissions.

All services provided are based on five fundamental goals that help to guide the development of personal and programming objectives.

  1. To achieve optimum skills relative to individual abilities in the following area: Social and interpersonal, Functional living, and Educational
  2. To improve personal decision-making skills
  3. To improve sense of personal well being
  4. To have positive personal relationships (i.e., Family, friends, and community)
  5. To be happy
