
KRRC Youth Program is a community-based child and youth caring program that provides a safe, structured homelike environment for children in the care of the Minister of Community Services who are experiencing difficulty thriving in a less structured environment due to social, emotional, psychiatric or behavioural concerns.
Our Child and Youth Caring Programs follow the CARES model, promoting a child centered alliance that fosters resilience through education and solution focused programming.
The clientele that we serve are children aged 9 years and over on admission from across the Province of Nova Scotia as designated by the Child Welfare Specialist – Admissions.
All services provided are based on five fundamental goals that help to guide the development of personal and programming objectives.
- To achieve optimum skills relative to individual abilities in the following area: Social and interpersonal, Functional living, and Educational
- To improve personal decision-making skills
- To improve sense of personal well being
- To have positive personal relationships (i.e., Family, friends, and community)
- To be happy
